Go Green Information Centre opens in The Mall
A new ‘Go Green Information Centre’ opened in The Maidstone Mall on Thursday 8 September at 10am.
The pop up centre is making use of a currently empty unit located on the first floor near the King Street entrance, just by the escalators, opposite Muffin Break.
Maidstone Borough Council’s (MBC) Climate Change and Biodiversity team have taken over the unit for September and will be using it to help anyone who may be confused, sceptical or unsure of where to start with becoming more green and sustainable.
People will be able to drop by for energy saving help, money saving grants, sustainable living ideas, wildlife friendly gardening tips, active travel advice, recycling activities and much more. There will be resources and giveaways to help people better understand the solutions, products, and services already available that can help them lead a more sustainable life.
Cllr David Burton Leader of Maidstone Borough Council said: “Volunteers will be on hand to give out information on how to reduce energy bills, encouraging active travel, reducing carbon footprints, using sustainable products, answering questions and offering advice.
“The Information Centre will also have a recycling game for everyone to have a go at, with displays and information on how to recycle more. Other local sustainable organisations such as JPS Energy, Communigrow and Zero Waste on Wheels will be demonstrating their goods and services for free with others giving talks to help give people more confidence in making greener choices. Please come along.”
The Go Green Information Centre will be open from Thursday to Sunday from 10am to 4pm every week until Sunday 9 October. To celebrate Great Big Green Week the centre will be open every day between Saturday 24 September and Sunday 2 October.
